Magsad Nuri (1968) is a novelist, one of the remarkable representatives of modern Azerbaijani prose, a well-known journalist and the founder of new Azerbaijani journalism, who worked as a reporter in various hot spots since Azerbaijan gained independence.

His first collection Just to Despise Us was published in 2006 and was highly regarded as a new word in the Azerbaijani prose by critics. His works have been translated into Russian, English, French, Georgian, Ukrainian, Uzbek and other languages.

Magsad Nuri is the author of many documentary films. Also, his short stories have been adapted to short films. The novel City Mayor received the National Book Award of Azerbaijan (2011).
