The title is misleading in the sense that the author is primarily interested in suicide rather than the writer. However, the phenomenon is analyzed through looking into the tragic lives of writers. Moreover, the essays are fairly independent from each other, so the reader can skip some and concentrate on others. In a broader sense, the book is about suicidal people.
